Set of Paper bag and A Tag !!

I have given new look to a paper bag by adding spiral roses.

I have created a tag in co-ordination with the bag. Background of tag has been prepared using poster colors (wash technique),
Spiral roses have been made using cream colored card stock, A touch f red color and glitter did all the wonder.

I have also tried comb quilling  for creating leaves, I feel it needs more practice..!!
Take a look and give your valuable feedback..

Velvet roses

Here is the wall hanging with a warm welcome note.

It is decorated with red roses made up of shiny velvet cloth.

The picture taken is before the final framing.

Cheers,
Prachi

Mirror frame wid ceramic roses

This mirror frame is decorated by ceramic work (roses made of white plaster and fevicol mixture),
once the flowers are properly dried and painted, copper dust is sprayed to get the final effect.

We have tried this technique on flower pots as well. All the supplies are easily available in any hardware shop.

It is very quick and easy to create.
It looks beautiful, though this particular is not framed when clicked.
I apologize for the poor image quality...(it was clicked months back)

Sanskar Rangoli

This is rangoli created during this year's Diwali.
The beauty of this year's creation was, that we created it together (all three ladies at our floor)

Initially I planned to create something different, but this was the fastest that can be done with kids running around..

Hope you like it...!!!

Diwali Craft

This DIya is created by 2-3 years olds at their nursery class for diwali craft.
Only scribbling by crayons must have been done by them, yet these crations are precious for parents like me...!!!

While I m posting this...my kiddo is sitting beside me and saying..."ye to maine banaya tha...!!!" :-)

Traditional Ghadoli - Punjabi wedding.

Ghadoli is the term used for a small water pot, which is filled and carried by bride/groom's sister in law. This water is used to take bath after the haldi ceremony in a traditional north Indian wedding.

This is a typical ritual in all Punjabi weddings and was done with full dhol dhamaal in my sister's wedding as well. Here is the picture of the ghadoli that we decorated for our dear would be bride...

A plain steel matki was transformed into a beautiful ghadoli...thanks to the creative souls at my home :-)

My little one's creations

This is the first creation that came home after a month of my little one's joining school.
This was for the grandparents, wishing them A very Happy Grandparents Day..!!!
I ususally leave no stones unturned in capturing the memories associated with my little angel, so I asked DH to take a photograph of the lovely Paper flower and here it is....

I found this the cutest flower I have ever seen....!!!

PS: I know most of this is done by his teacher, as he is too young to even fold a paper correctly. But still this is his first one..!!! :-)

Travelling with Toddlers and below

Dear All,
I thought of sharing my learnings from travelling with a toddler (now) during last 2.5 years.
Well I have lots of experience of travelling with my son who is now 2.5 years old.
This includes numerous trips to hometown (min 15hrs by train) , Mumbai - Vishakhapatnam (1. 5hrs flight via Hyderabad), Mumbai - Sikkim (2hrs flight to Ranchi via Delhi; overnight train to jalpaiguri) and a road trip to Goa from Mumbai.
Most of the trips during his first year were to my home town, we took the chance and quenched our thirst of travel during his second year with Vizag when he was 1yr 4mnths, Goa when he was 1 year 6 months and Sikkim when he was 1yr and 9mnths old.
So here is the list of must haves when you are travelling with a baby of age 1-3 years:
1.       Induction hot plate This will be really helpful bcoz once you reach your destination, you can cook homemade food for your baby.
2.       Proper utensils and cleaning stuff for utensils. [Harsh but true, once you have a baby your routine remains same with lots of cleaning, cooking etc, no matter if you are on a holiday....!!!
      :-)]

3.       Lots of stuff to eat (biscuits, chocolates, fresh cakes, popcorn, dry fruits, fresh fruits like banana, bread butter jam sandwiches.....). These items are just fillers and things like idli, paranthas, puris, rice must also be kept. Though not fresh it will be 100times better than outside food.
4.       Hot water, Milk powder and sugar (with disposable glass and spoon) - I prefer this since there is no guarantee of milk even if it is stored in an airtight thermos. This is in case of emergency, no doubt that you must use fresh milk whenever available.
5.       Cerelac and other baby food is also a good option, however I personally never used it and always have given homemade fresh food to my little one.
6.       Lots of diapers
7.       Baby Wipes
8.       Hand Sanitizer (for yourself)
9.       Medicines (for fever, cough, cold, vomit, antiseptic, band-aid etc)
10.   Pot: Since my little one is potty trained, I have to carry this every time when the trip is longer than 1 day :-)
11.   Old newspapers and polythene bags: They are of great help in waste management.
12.   And last but not the least, some of favorite toys for your little one.
I know that this list is never ending. so join me and add your must haves while travelling with your little Sweet Hearts !!!

Cheers...
Prachi

Rangoli

These are some latest rangolis made by me during last diwali festivals.
This pattern is known as Sanskar rangoli, and is created by white color on a colorful base.

And this one is made by my younger sis. This is based on the view of majestic "Bhedaghat" in our hometown where Narmada river flows in the middle of marble rocks. It is one of the top most tourist attractions of MP.
My sister specializes in  landscape paintings and Bhedaghat paintings. Will upload her more collection soon.

Thanks for taking a look...

About me

Hello Friends,
We are a mother daughter duo with mother having 20+ years of experience in the field of art and craft (along with Ph.D in Zoology, & authorized fevicryl Hobby teacher since last 8 years). And daughter [i.e. me :-)] is the perfect example of "darkness under the lamp", as I have spent my entire childhood in a typical study-play-sleep-eat pattern with hardly 1% of talent that my mom has. Now I am a working professional and mother of a two and a half year old cute little boy.

As it is said that "better to be late than never", so here I am joining the track again, trying to make full advantage of the time that I have now. Well we recently got introduced to the world of blogging and unlimited knowledge it offers. So unable to stop ourselves for long...here we are to learn about new things and share our own ventures.

News Paper Bag

One of the very beautiful use of old newspapers. I got inspiration for this from   newspaper-bag.
I changed the final one with handles, however basic technique is same.

Handmade rakhis

These are some of my handmade rakhis.
This is one of the craft that we started doing as kids....This year it was bit different...as I made them all alone..:-(
It was bit nostalgic...and fun at the same time...creating rakhis after so many years...!!

old newspaper's basket

I got an inspiration to create this basket from internet. step be step tutorial is available here

Take a look at my creation. I added a red satin ribbon at top, I feel it goes well with newspaper.
Some more finishing is needed, though not bad as first attempt...!!!
